Hebei China Fortune Football Club

CFFC Langfang Stadium, Langfang, Nr. Beijing

Accepted the opportunity & challenge to work in one of the most progressive & demanding environments in world football. Joined the club as part of the senior management team structure, and tasked with the opportunity to oversee the performance development of the club. Working closely with the technical department and as part of the management structure generating a new working philosophy, identity & training environment. Working to implement a weekly technical & physical methodology within the club whilst delivering on-pitch content from a multifunctional perspective. Further exposure to management of staff in a high-pressured demanding environment, whilst gaining greater exposure working with multi-national players & staff engrossed within a different culture, language & coaching style.

Wales National Team

Football Association of Wales (FAW), Cardiff, Wales

Working as part of a highly successful performance structure at the elite level of the senior International game since 2009. Integration of a very modern coaching science approach within an elite performance setting. Recently, the Nation achieved its greatest ever FIFA World Ranking (8th), gained qualification and progressed to the Semi-Final stage within the European Championships in France (EURO 2016).

Consultant sport and human performance specialist assisting across all areas of performance development, delivery of coach education and sport science support. Continually involved with the development and initiation of research based projects, scientific journal publications & authorship.

Football Research Consultant within the highly successful BenficaLAB, overseeing the physical performance aspect of the whole club from Academy to 1st Team. Key role is the development of research based projects, performance & sport science supporting roles. Large increase in football science projects, published research and intervention development from within the department.

June 2017 – March 2018

Lechia Gdansk S.A

Stadion Energa, Gdansk, Poland

Accepted the opportunity to join Lechia Gdansk in the Polish Ekstraklasa in a duel role Head of Performance & Assistant Manager. Tasked with developing a modern approach within the club, after 2 months within the role, became Head Coach. Having developed the club’s sport science and performance department, aligned the tactical strategy of the club with academy & the formation of a B-team structure. Forging closer links with the academy structure and the integration & development of younger players into the 1st team proved very successful.

Servette Football Club

Experienced the opportunity to work abroad within a European club based structure as part of the management staff in a duel capacity. Joined a very successful & well renowned European club in order to implement a leading performance & research structure as both Head of Performance & Assistant Coach. Development of a first class integrated technical, tactical, physical, coaching science performance method in conjunction with the inception of the ‘FC Servette – Centre for Football Research’ from which many scientific research publications produced. Great exposure to European based club cultures, languages & coaching styles of central Europe.

Joined the club in a duel role across Head of Performance & Assistant Manager tasked with the opportunity to implement a modern & innovative sport science, physical performance & medical structure in in line with the philosophy of the club. Made significant cultural improvements, raising standards across the technical, physical and medical departments. Provided coach education across the academy structure in order to promote high performance developments.

March 2007 – June 2013

Rangers Football Club

Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow, Scotland

Accepted the role as part of a highly experienced & successful senior elite football management team. This period was deemed as a hugely successful phase in the club’s history from both a domestic viewpoint winning numerous League Championships, League & FA Cups, in addition to relative success from a European perspective performing well within the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup campaigns that culminated in a European Final. Implemented & managed a high-performance staffing structure & culture within the club gaining exposure. Developed a high-level ‘Football Science’ research based program in accordance to a functional & applied coaching approach.

February 2006 – March 2007

Sheffield Wednesday Football Club

Approached and joined the 1st team management structure at the club to oversee the physical performance & sport science aspects within the club. Working closely with the technical department and as part of the management structure generating relative success on a minimal budget. Developed the weekly technical & physical strategy within the club whilst delivering on-pitch content from a multifunctional perspective. Exposure to management, scouting, and opposition analysis in a high-pressured environment.

November 2003 – February 2016

Celtic Football Club

Celtic Park Stadium, Glasgow, Scotland

Joined the club & led the coaching-science link between the technical & sport science departments within the full-time Academy structure. Developed a very successful structure overseeing a high percentage of players progressing from Academy through to the 1st team squad. Developed many functional strategies with regards to physical, psychological & game intelligence testingin addition with the physical based weekly program. Progressed throughout my time with the club to work within the reserve and 1st team squad.

January 2003 – November 2003

Wrexham Football Club

Glyndwr University Stadium, Wrexham

Joined the club as a player directly from school and made the successful transition into a full-time academy coach. Progression to head of age range & working at 1st team level in a coaching science role. Assisted the clubs technical program within the academy & developed facets of the club through sport science, coach education links between the club & University research programs. Became Head Coach of the club’s college based Under 18 program whilst also retaining the Head of Age Range role within the Youth Academy.
